Hello! I’m Niels.
Originally from Brooklyn, NY, I’ve now spent close to half my life in the SF Bay Area.
I’ve always made things. In a very early art class, I spilled a large amount of white paint on my paper. This white blob was soon transformed into a sheep - magic! This piece hung in our living room throughout my childhood. Sometimes the best solutions come from embracing the unexpected.
This philosophy guides my approach to design. Just as that paint spill transformed into art, I believe in staying open to surprising insights and directions during the design process. It's about being present and letting awareness guide innovation.
Collaboration is where this mindset shines. When diverse minds come together, we create solutions greater than an individual could imagine. I've seen this magic happen repeatedly in both physical and digital public projects, where different perspectives blend into breakthrough design.
My design journey has been enriched by vibrant communities and diverse collaborators. Today, I channel this collective wisdom into designing products that matter – experiences built on empathy, inclusivity, and shared vision. From this new world we get a solution that is greater than the sum of its parts.
Through examination of the space between thought and experience a new and unexpected product is revealed.
